About Kentmere Veterinary Hospital

Kentmere Veterinary Hospital has been serving the Forty Acres community for four decades. We're a three-doctor practice, and our small, consistent team means we get to know your pet the way a large practice can't. Your doctor remembers your pet's story, milestones, close calls and unique personality.

We're locally and independently owned, which means the veterinarian in the room with you is also the one making the decisions. No corporate protocols or one-size-fits-all plan. Just a doctor who knows your pet, understands your situation, and builds a treatment plan from there.

Our History

Kentmere Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1987 by Dr. Kevin P. Coogan, who cared for our neighborhood pets for nearly four decades. In 2019, Dr. Anne Ireland and Dr. Stephanie Snyder joined the Kentmere team to expand our trusted services and establish the hospital’s next chapter of leadership.

Dr. Ireland assumed sole ownership of the practice in 2023. She is committed to carrying on the tradition of personalized and compassionate care that our clients have come to rely on for decades.

With the addition of Dr. Laura Waterbury in 2025, we maintain a tight three-doctor team. Moving forward, we'll continue to combine our personalized approach with advancing technology and expanding services in veterinary care, so your pet always gets care tailored to their needs.

In 2001, Curtis began his professional career in the industry as an Animal Care Technician at Temple University's Department of Veterinary Resources. Through dedication, hard work, and a passion for animal welfare, he quickly advanced through the ranks, eventually becoming the Operations Manager and holding leadership positions at several institutions throughout his career. In January 2025, he joined the Kentmere team as the new Practice Manager where he is inspired to contribute to the exciting supportive and caring culture.

Outside of his professional life, Curtis enjoys spending quality time with his family, especially his wife, Ashley, and their three beloved pets: Cassius Ray, a Cane Corso, and Queen and Slim, two black shorthair cats. He also enjoys cooking new recipes, traveling, hiking, staying active at the gym, and spending time with friends.

There's a difference when your vet's also the owner.

Being independently owned means every decision is made by the veterinarians you're sitting with, not a corporate stakeholder. We make the rules and take the time to understand your pet, your situation, and your concerns, and we shape a treatment plan from there.

What that means for your pet's care:

No production quotas or sales targets influencing recommendations
Treatment plans shaped by clinical experience, not corporate policy
The flexibility to adjust care based on your pet's needs and your comfort level
Clear, straightforward explanations so you can choose what feels right for your family
Supporting Waggies by Maggie & Friends
Kentmere Veterinary Hospital is proud to support Waggies by Maggie & Friends — a nonprofit whose mission is to employ adults with intellectual disabilities. Their all-natural, vet-approved treats are made with simple ingredients and contain no preservatives. Purchasing Waggies treats rewards your dog while supporting meaningful employment in our community.
